ââ¦this is vicious death/grinding savageryâ¦â â No Clean Singing
Since their malformation in 2014, the San Franciscan sickos CARTILAGE have brewed a special concoction of gory deathgrind so foul, it would leave Carcass and Impetigo screaming in horror.
After spending their formative years sharpening their axes, the CARTILAGE crew entered Greg Wilkinsonâs Earhammer Studios to spawn their debut full-length, Dialect Of The Dead (2017). Upon its release, members Mark Wallace, Teresa Flory, Michael Flory, and Adam Houmam spent the next few years spreading their grotesque gospel to terrified audiences across the greater US and Europe.
2020 saw the addition of bassist Kienan Hamilton adding his pummeling low-end to the quintets next two blood offerings; the self-released and recorded Gore-Met EP (2020), followed by The Deader The Better LP (2022), produced by Matt Harvey (Exhumed) and released via Creator-Destructor Records. With a wealth of shows throughout the East and West Coasts and a US tour with Gruesome under their leathers, the five-piece has tightened into a well-bloodied machine.
The dead may rest but the grind goes on. CARTILAGE is serving up another frenzied feast with a new EP, Tales From The Entrails: A Necrology, via Everlasting Spew Records. The blastmasters took their studio operations to home base, enlisting Scott Evans (Kowloon Walled City, Ghoul, Thrice) for recording and mixing duties, while the genreâs perennial grindfather Leon del Muerte (Impaled, Exhumed, Nails) handled mastering, the record then completed with art by Jason V Roberts and photos by Kei Mowry.
The Bay Area gore titans continue to spill their guts across the land but with new tools in their trade: twisting harmonies and cinematic set-pieces now compliment CARTILAGEâs arsenal of blistering blasts, ripcord riffs, and deranged shrieks fans know to expect. Tales From The Entrails: A Necrology offers the biggest color palette on a CARTILAGE release to date. Now with even more shades of red.
The lead single from Tales From The Entrails: A Necrology â a visualizer for the track âFrothed Vomit Sloshâ â has been unveiled today through No Clean Singing, who writes in part with the premiere, ââ¦this is vicious death/grinding savagery that will rev your internal engines by pumping out skull-popping beats, gut-rumbling bass-lines, and feverishly ravenous riffage, as well as maniacal screams and ghastly gutturals… itâs once again clear how technically proficient the performers are and how quickly and sharply they switch things up, so that the song is as head-spinning as it is savage.â
The band describes the track as, âGuts set ablaze by your irresponsible habits. Gorging on everything in sight just to satisfy an appetite that can’t be explained. Sick riffs, blasts and grooves that’ll make any coward violently regurgitate their own âFrothed Vomit Slosh!ââ
